Why hello there, thanks for stopping by!
I’m Kate McCleary, Hair + Makeup artist, cat enthusiast, queer loving, garden nerd who is always first on the D floor. I love colour and sparkle and all things pink <3
Besides my Hair + Makeup work, I’m all about my family.
My wife’s name is also Kate, and we have two daughters, both named Kate. OK fine, just kidding on that last bit; their names are Molly and Lola. Our cats Frankie and Lulu are a special part of our fam too.
How it started
Little Kate (that’s me!) got into mum’s hairspray at 5, finagled a pot of glitter at 10, and by 15 had her mits of her first lipstick, a glittery pink from Red earth!
My love and passion for hair and makeup really accelerated, and by the time I was 21, I’d packed my life into a couples of boxes, popped them in Suzie the astra, and drove from my home in Queensland to start a new life of hair and makeup artistry in Melbourne.
How it’s going
Pretty well I’d say, because I am very much living my actual dream. With more than 13 years experience as a qualified Hair + Makeup artist, I’ve been fortunate to work with a fantastic range of clients, including:
Cruelty free, vegan + sustainability are my jam
This small (but passionate!) business is an extension of myself, my values and beliefs. As a vegan, an animal lover and an enthusiastic advocate for our environment and sustainability, I’ve been able to incorporate all of these into how I operate.
It’s wonderful to be able to choose from so many amazing 100% cruelty free and vegan products, including Illamasqua, Hourglass, Mecca, Josie Maran, Chantecaille, RMS, Kevyn Aucoin, Iridis Cosmetics and many more. My hair products include Kevin Murphy, EVO and De Lorenzo.
Actively working to keep my ecological footprint small, I only use biodegradable wipes, recyclable non plastic cotton tips and lashes which come on paper based lash trays. I’m also a keep cup kinda gal.
My style is modern, fresh and clean, I have a flair for colour and design and I always tailor looks to reflect each person 🌈

- Plus, hundreds of wonderful humans and their gorgeous faces for bridal and event Hair + Makeup.
